I run a TG5995 and run it without a BEC, just run it on 7.4v direct.

I think the most poplar choice for 2.2s is still the HS-645mg

Or the TP MG945's. They work very well for the cash. I love 5995tg and 5955tg servos too.

For rccrawling you really have to throw down money for a servo if you really want it to last. Hitec 5655tg is the best for the torque rating, gear train, and case. |

I've got to agree that the Hitec 5995tg and 5955 are worth the money spent for a comp rig and the Tower Pro 945 are great for scalers and really affordable so you don't feel so bad if they crap out.

I use Hitec's 5955 in my Super and Cirrus 704MG's in my 2.2's. I really like the 704, $29.99 for 200oz. of torque. Not that bad.

The Hitec 5955 is great. I had problems with the 645 and 5645 breaking gears.

I run the TowerPro 945 and carry a spare onboard. They are cheap and good servos. From time to time i find my 6" nylint tires full of water and the servo turns them with ease. I run it with a 6v rx pack.

I run 645MG's in all my dirt rigs... Had one in my Clod for a year now and the only problem Ihad with it was it kept tweking my axles brace/servo mount loose 'til I swapped ends... Now it doesn't tweak the brace... I run one in my TLT 2.2, as well... It works great with the BTA mod I have... It's not as fast as I'd like, granted, but it hauls the wheels when and where I want them to be... There's one in my TA-02 trail rig, too, but it's only on 1.9's so I really don't NEED a 645MG in it, but... The only one I don't have a 645MG in is my drift car.. It has a TRX2055... I could have gone with other servo's, but, these have been the best so far that I've seen used here... I've seen the TP995's disnintegrate, blow up, blow a housing and just up and die... But I've also seen ppl use them with the same success as I have with 645MG's... |

I have had trouble w/ some 995's in the past, and Towerpro's customer service was absolutely top-drawer. DO NOT get them off of Ebay, there's no need to wait for an auction when you can get them right here and support a site member at the same time. PM run2jeepn, he's Towerpro's authorized U.S. distributor, he can get them for you (jpcustomrcs.com) Last edited by Big Mike; 06-07-2007 at 01:59 PM. | |

Has anyone had issues running digital servos? Is analog servos better for crawling? Is one better than the other? I'm an obvious newbie to crawling but not to RC. 17 years building and racing experience but I understand crawling is much different. I use KO Propo radio gear and have great luck with it over the years. In racing 1/8 scale buggies some believe digital servos are not to be used for throttle and brake servos because of not enough motion. I.E. being held in a open or closed position, unlike a steering servo that is almost in constant motion. Has anyone else heard of this? If the statement is true, would analog servos be better for crawling since you need to use the steering to hold your position in say a rock. Just a newbie looking for answers and help. Thanks guys.

A digi holds position better, but has a higher amp draw too. The only reason I can see to not use a digi on a throttle or brake servo is cost. I used a strong digi on my tmaxx brake and it was very nice. I would say digi is better for crawling, the holding power and consistency is there. Analog is nice for the ability to overvolt. |

I have run 5645 (broke gears left and right and no power), then JR ST125MG(didn't break any gears but fried them, same power as the 5645), then TP995 (decent servo for the price, but not enough power for me), then 5995TG (great servo, no complaints, but you need EPA's on your radio) and finally a JR DS8711 (403oz, and just simply love it, except for the price, but in my opinion well worth it). These have all been in 2.2 rigs, not supers, and the only 2 I would buy now, are the JR DS8711, or the Hitec5995(if I need more servo throw). |
