| Which is better, A clod based crawler or Shaft/axle based crawler?
I ask because some guy on RC Universe is selling a clod based crawler and told me this in a email: I have both ..An the clod crawler is way better at crawling ..Shaft trucks are ok ..this is a clod base crawler ..I been building crawlers for 5 years an had them all ..I use my shaft truck for the trails ...Thanks for looking What are your opinions? Is there any truth to the statement and why? |

If you're building a super class crawler, it's been my experience that Clod based crawlers dominate the shaft rigs in competition.

What's better, steak or lobster? It depends on tastes and execution... |

Clods have an advantage in the super class because the axle stall can be quite a benefit. In the 2.2 class the stall actually hurts the clod and a shaft truck generally works better because of the short wheelbase. For general fun crawling I like clods better because they are so durable and because there are not driveshafts to bind up the drivetrain and break as often. However, when given a choice what to drive for fun I usually grab my 2.2 comp rig cuz it's so fun to drive. Now go educate the masses on your home planet. :-P | |

I posted the question to get the answers from people with experience and posts to back it up. I did not want to take the word from some guy on RC Universe tryin' to get top dollar for his rig. I am new to the crawler scene but not to RC. Thank you for the replies, it is much appreciated. This forum has so much info and experienced people. It is quite an asset.

I think a good quality steak, cooked medium rare, is the absolute best. No A1 needed. I am in Texas, home of the best steaks.
