| 2.2 Driveline parts?
I know this is kind of a noob question. What are the parts needed to make the driveline (i.e driveshafts, and yokes at the tranny and axle ends) for a 2.2 rig. I know about the large traxxas shafts and yokes, but I wanted to use smaller shafts on the newer build. Any help is appreciated.

Not sure if this is what your looking for, but this is what I have been using for a while with good results. Traxxas half shafts part#1953 I use 2 females and 1 male for each shaft. Traxxas metal yokes part#4628X You really only need 2 of these on the pinions, no need to drill if you use these. Traxxas plastic yokes part#4628 you can get by using these on the tranny, and you can use them on the pinions if you drill the pinions. They hold up fine if your are brushed. I have been using this set up for quite some time and you know how I drive, and have only popped a few off using 8 cells, brushless power. I think they can act as a weak link of sorts to keep from stripping pinions/etc. Last edited by 666; 07-06-2007 at 07:05 AM. |

Thats the same setup I use and it is the most common for custom lenght shafts I believe.

Are they not long enough that is why you are using two females? and when you say two females, you mean one one the tranny and pinion end with a male inbetween right?

On the tranny end I used a short piece of female shaft as a spacer and a full length female piece (yoke cut off) to get the right spline engagement. Then I glued the spacer and female shaft onto the male shaft coming out of the tranny. The axle end also has a male shaft. Make sense? :? EDIT: You an see the rear shaft here: The axle end and tranny end are both male shafts. The tranny end just has female splines glued on to it. Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 07-06-2007 at 09:33 AM. | |

Two males and one female is just gross. Really either way you do it is fine- IMHO looks cleaner using two female shafts. |

I got a way around it for now. (local hobby shop didn't have the metal yokes in stock. I just too the u-joints out of some revo shafts and then drilled the hole in the savage yokes and shafts a little larger to accept the revo U-Joints.

| Patrick, what happens if you use the plastic yokes on the pinion side and they aren't drilled through?

You can do it, they just will pop off pretty often, or spin.
