| Good crawler for a newcomer?
Ok guys, first post here. Anyways I have always been into nitro trucks and own a savage 25, x 4.6 and other vehicles but after going to an event that had a rock crawling area it got me and my parents looking at them. I don't need a top of the line vehicle, just something to mess around with. Nothing expensive..... what would I be looking at? Thanks! |

If your that much of an HPI fan check out the Wheely King. Its a great starting point that is RTR and a capable crawler with a few modifications. Or you can go the pure crawler kit with the Axial AX-10. Although with the AX-10 you'll need to provide the electronics.

Goes back to budget. The Wheely King ($200) comes RTR and for under $100 you can build a crawler. The AX10 (I've seen $259 as a start) is great, designed to be a crawler from the beginning, but not RTR. You'll need few items to get to that point. You can be into it $500 really easy. There are others, all purpose built, all take money. Sometimes, lots of it. |

I've had good luck with my basically stock TLT. Just re-worked a few things here and there and any of the Michigan guys can tell ya they were impressed at the comp.

If I was starting from scratch I would build the ax-10....especially after seeing the video of the one bender built. Might cost more but we're only talking about dirty paper. |

| Give up now! This hobby and all RC is expensive. I would recommend an Axial, even stock form will outperform many expectations. Its all about what you want to do and how. The Axial gets you in quick and I think cheap. $230 + Servo and radio, cheap ESC and 55T lathe motor, and Batteries is all you need. You can of course do more, but the stock kit is a great performer. |
