When i used to race mine I think I switched between 30wt and 40wt, depending on the track and what the truck was doing.

I think I ran 40wt & the RPM shock pistons, work great for the cheap.
Then I got a set of Proline PS shocks and changed the springs I love them.
I race my t-maxx a lot, but someone came into my house and need it more than me:-( I had a lot of time in that truck, and had just got it right, I would like to meet that guy

Depending on the track style, I would bump up to 50w if it is a more jump-oriented style. It's really hard to say with the limited info provided. Are you running stock shocks?
