Default Hpi Baja 5B VS. Traxxas Rustler VXL

Can't decide which one to get between the two.

If I bought the Rustler I would buy the MaxAmps 5000mAh Lipo battery.

I want a good reliable car Where parts are pretty cheap to buy.
I am 14 and I live with my mom so I want something that is easy to repair. I have had to crawlers before a TXT and a Stick Crawler, I repaired it all myself so I have a good knowledge about Rc's.
If I keep saving I Should be able to spend around £800 on one.

Thankyou

James

Better have deep pockets if you get a 5B the first time I ran mine it cost 350.00 to fix it.

You need a lot of room to run the 5B. Depending where you live, people in the area might not appreciate the noise either. I'd say go with the VXL. Plenty fast, most parts are cheap and easily obtained. Won't take up much room in your house/flat either. I know waaaay back when I was 14, the only "space" I had was my room. I should try that again, it would cut down on the r/c addiction.

5B all the way!!
It is the most reliable and easy to run RC I have ever owned.
$3 worth of gas and your good for a weekend. Just keep in mind that it is really not meant for big air jumping.
It is by far a blast to drive.

3 bucks in gas...not any more....4 bucks in gas...every weekend it goes up

if u drive with some restraint and take care of it the baja can be cheep to run

however

upgrades and replacement parts are more expensive

i have had mine for about a year and have spent only 40 bucks on replacement parts...
but i try not to trash it

What kind of cars? Will they care if you tear up the feild? From what I've seen the 5b doesn't exactly "tread lightly".

I really can't decide which one to get.

I want something with speed and reliability. Cheap parts and something I will not get bored of soon. I am starting to go for the Rustler but then I see how awesome the baja looks I just can't Decide!

You really are comparing apples to oranges imo.

I have a VXL Rustler and it is my "go to" truck when I wanna go fast and simply have fun with very little effort. Just grab-n-Go most of the time. The truck is very reliable, jumps very well/easy, and is plenty fast approaching 45mph on a 7-cell NiMh pack.

The VXL Rustler is EXACTLY what you suggest you are looking for:

Speed & Reliability ALL day long.

Rc shocker's right on the money, you probably just need a rusty I bought one a few months ago & run a 5000 maxamp battery like you plan to use. With the stock gearing we radared it at 59 mph. You'll want some basic upgrades like rpm suspension arms & aluminum bearing carriers. Also a good wheelie bar-not the traxxas one, it's made of hard plastic & shatters after the first crash. It's hard not to wheelie it with all the power, & you can bash around for up to an hour with that battery
