| Novak vs. MM
I need opinions on the Novak GTB velocity 6.5. Is it a good setup?? How does it do compared to the mamba max setups? If anyone has the GTB setup, can it handle 7 cells? i know its rated for 4-6, but has someone done it with 7? What are the major differences in the gtb/mm? looking for more opinion than facts on this one.. |

| Brushless is great
Hey, I have been reading for a while as I have been bitten by the crawler bug, but my main addiction is brushless. If you are looking for great info on brushless set ups check out rc-monster.com, I am a member of their forums and everyone is really cool and eager to help out. Some of those guys blow my mind with computer read outs and everything, I am not that advanced, but I have experience with both set ups you are talking about. If I had to buy only one it would be the MM by Castle. Big flexibility, huge room to run some high voltage setups (not uncommon for people to run 8th scale buggies and Revos/Maxxes with 4s lipos and a ubec) and the Castle link for your computer. (You can adjust everything to the nth degree) That being said the Novak is good, but I would stick with the 6 cell limit, I have a GTB with a 6.5 right now in a E-Firestorm and though it is conservatively geared and runs very cool I would hesitate to push 7 cells. If you do go with Novak you could go to 2s lipo for a little extra punch without strain. Again I don't think you would be disappointed in either, but long run the MM is so flexible and capable of big power for expansion. Good luck, let us know how it turns out. |

What do you plan to do with it, race, bash, crawl? In a drag race the CC will because it can handle more voltage than the Novak. The Novak is a nice reliable system but the CC is capable of more power and speed and it is programmable. On the CC you can adjust throttle and brake curve, motor timing, go from soft start to silly power start, auto lipo cut off or custom lipo cut off. With all of these adjustments it's hard to beat IMO. note: You get all of the adjustments with the mamba or sidewinder escs and they can be used with other motors and still have the adjustments. IMO the Novak is good system but the adjustments on the CC puts it over the top, plus the Novak has a hefty price tag for what you get. |

| Personally, I like the Novak brushless systems. I have owned 4 of the, I have two currently (a 4.5+GTB and a 3.5+GTB Spektrum). Both are very fast and run really cool on 6 cells. I wouldn't push 7 cells though. With that being said, I have yet to own or run a MM. If you are bent int running more voltage, like a 7 cell or more, the MM would be a better choice. But for $110, that price is hard to pass up. |

Ok, so this bassicly sucks. I have two 7 cells, brand new, that i cant run then. I guess i could sell them, and buy 6 cells, or take off the last cell... so no one has one that they have ran with more volts yet??

Monkey your question made me wonder, so I emailed Novak with that question. I'll post up what they say whenever I get a reply.. probably sometime midday tomorrow.

For $110.00 as long as it runs I would buy it, thats a smokin deal! I have seen people run 2s lipo on them which is 7.4v but I can't say how long they lasted running like that. For the price I think it's worth getting a couple of 6 cell packs and start having fun.

i run 2S lipo on my GTB/ Velociti 3.5R equipped TC5 and its been fine. sucker SCREAMS. I don't run it very often because tires are $30 a set and i go through a set with each battery pack. i prefer the smooth control of the sensored novak over the sometimes hesitant mamba. |

Novak GTB Velocity Input: 4-6 NiMH packs, or 2s lipo only. Its rated for the 2s. |
