| Spare parts budget build: Clod Racer 2WD
So this is a different kind of build.. It's totally from spare parts i've had for awhile.. So far I've got 11 bucks invested in front links and not including parts I previously had... The rear axle is locked, but the front has no pinion or differential, so yes it's just two wheel drive.. And I will be changing out the tires eventually. And yes, thats a dog bone for a driveshaft! :-D I have a hardbody clod for it, but I have to decide on tires before I mount it. My goal for this thing is to make it go fast.. like a trophy truck. Tell me whatcha guys think! Last edited by PaulEZK; 08-12-2008 at 12:48 AM. |

rear upper links will need to be shorter to fix that pinion angle or you'll bend that dogbone. Looks like an awesome budget build, except for go lipo and brushless |

I won't be going brushless or lipo though.. I'm good with the old fashion brushed and cells.. Plus I don't wanna pay for that.. Maybe later down the line, if I find it to be a fun RC I might do that, but for now.. I'll stick with the stock can I have. | |

not bad at all for left over parts. and from the looks of it, it shouldnt take too much money if you deciede later on to turn it 4x4.

| Yeah it won't.. And I actually have everything I need to replace the dogbone, but this works for now, so I figured i'd save myself the extra labor.

Well after a trip to the hobby store, I found myself an ESC for 6 bucks in the clearance section.. And it works.. :-) Only thing left to get is some tires, controller and receiver. Anyone got any highlift tires for sell? :-) I haven't installed them yet, but I also got some new top links for the rear axle. Last edited by PaulEZK; 08-12-2008 at 10:20 PM. |

that esc reminds me of the ProBoat units... I ran those for a while... they had reverse, and were copletely waterproof... and a steal at 28.00 rig looks good, I always wanted to do some sort of 2wd solid axle truck... (not sure why, but I do) |

I got rid of the dogbone and the Y linkage, I had problems with axle travel before, but it's cleared up now with those two changes... I also mounted the electronics. Also the L bracket in the rear will be what my clod body mounts to. I might bolt it down. |

Today I'm going to see how it looks with some RC4WD rock stompers.. I'm still looking for some 1.9 fires, rims, controller and receiver.. If anyone has anything for sale, lemme know.

So I ordered the stuff I wanted.. On the way I have some rock cruisers.. And a controller/receiver. So I should be up and running by next weekend. So far I'm $56 in to this truck (obiviously not including my old spare parts. The last thing on my list is some 1.9 rims, but i'll buy those from my local hobby store. |
