Default Team Associated SC8e 1/8th Scale 4WD Electric Off-Road Race Truck Kit

WOOT!! Got this off RCCA http://radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=254228

New from AE:

The ultra-realistic SC8 was designed to look like full-size 4WD race trucks that compete on short course off-road tracks around the country. Team Associated’s all-new SC8e kit brings all of that scale excitement to those who prefer the awesome performance, convenience, and cleanliness of electric power.

Like the SC8, the SC8e was designed to meet the scale specifications and handling of full-size short course race trucks. It’s all there! A durable and realistic clear race truck body, KMC™ wheels with realistic off-road tires, scale suspension travel, full roll-cage, and functional mud flaps result in an unparalleled scale experience.

Good looks mean nothing without the engineering to back it up. Team Associated’s engineering team has developed a practical chassis design that incorporates the same exceptional strength, durability, cornering capability, jumping ability, and rough track handling that characterize the nitro SC8. With special features such as a hard anodized machined chassis, correctly balanced and optimized weight distribution, composite Big Bore shocks featuring 4mm gold shafts, and upgraded steering system, the SC8e is right at home on the race track - just like its full-size counterparts.

Scale realism and electric power make the SC8 the must-have truck in 2009!

SC8e Kit Features:
  • Authentic, scale 1.5mm thick short course truck unpainted body
  • Functional full roll cage with integral dirt shields
  • Functional and realistic front and rear bumpers with mud flaps

  • Includes pinion gear (15T) and molded composite spur gear (46T)
  • Rigid one-piece motor mount utilizes standard motor screw mounting pattern
  • Large elevated speed control mounting area allows for easy screw mounting of common speed controllers
  • Upgraded dual bell-crank steering for more consistent steering and reduced bump-steer
  • 16mm Big-Bore molded composite shocks with pre-load clips

MSRP is usually a good bit higher than street price or even MAP pricing (Minimum Advertised Price). It's especially high with Associated. The FT RC8e has a MSRP of $859 and they sell for roughly $460-500. The SC10 has a MSRP of $299 and is listed on most sites for $185-195. This applies to other manufacturers as well, but it was easy for me to find the MSRP of the Associated vehicles as a reference.

I know stuff doesnt sell for MSRP, I was just saying its funny how I saw prices for the SC8e and they were as much as the nitro SC8. Should not to be close to the same when one does not have the electronics etc. Should be a couple of hundred lower to me.

It's not the same price. The MSRP of the SC8e is $669 and the MAP price of the SC8 is $699. That's two totally different kinds of prices there. FWIW, the SC8e is already listed on amainhobbies.com for $430. That's over $200 cheaper than the SC8.

I was on AEs site and there showing the E for 689.99 and the nitro for 699.99. I'm just saying $10 differance on MSRP. Its funny to me that they would have the pricing so close. Thats all, I'm going back into the closet now.

MAP is minimum advertised price. MSRP is Manufacturers Suggest Retail Price. MAP means that a dealer can sell it for less than the MAP price but they can only advertise it at the MAP price; like when you have to add a kit to the cart on a website to see the actual sale price.

So the MAP price will always be lower than MSRP. The MSRP on the nitro version is probably around $1000. The LHS here always lists the "regular" price as the MSRP and then lists the MAP price as a "sale" price.

The nitro SC8 price on the press release is a MAP price. It clearly says MAP, not MSRP.

NITRO
Status: Current $699.99 MSRP QTY: 1 UPC: 84695 80920

ELECTRIC
Status: Current $689.99 MSRP QTY: 1 UPC: 84695 80931

Hey, some times I'm wrong, but when you click on the trucks It says MSRP. I dont see where it says MAP price.

Now that we have got to this point, WHO cares anymore
Lets go back to having fun.
