| HPI E Firestorm basher, put in a Mamba 5700...
After debating what to buy for a new basher I went with the E Firestorm. Already had a Slash, Stampede and some others I wont even mention (Losi) so I wanted something new. The last HPI I bought was the WK and I was impressed with what they give you and the quality of the product. So here she is bone stock fresh out of the box. Definitely not a racer as I have read on here before. There is some slop in the front a-arms and all four wheels, but this is my basher not a racer, my main thing is durability. Here she is all stripped down. Here are the parts that went in, Spektrum 2.4 radio Mamba Max esc Mamba 5700 motor Traxxas 2.8 black chrome wheels wrapped with Pro Line 30 series Dirt Hawg tires. Had these from my old wide Pede. The HPI wheel hex is tapered so I had to drill the Traxxas wheels out some to work. The KO Propo servo did not make it in, the fit of the servo arm was too tight. An old but good Hi Tec 625MG went in. The Ebay items (auctions end Sunday night if any of you need the parts) And everything installed and about four runs on a 2s lipo 5000mah pack later Very happy with the durability of this truck. Its been through a couple of really hard hits (one that moved the motor enough the pinion did not touch the spur ). I have jumped it, flipped it, tumbled it, sent it through numerous cartwheels and it just comes back for more. Plus with the all metal trans I know I wont have to split the cases for a long time even though I am running brushless. It is a great basher and looks sick doing it. Next thing is to remove all four shocks and replace the oil, if there is any in them. Also fixing the slop in the front end. I have no regrets buying this truck, it is a ton of fun to bash around with Last edited by yarddog35; 04-04-2009 at 10:57 PM. |

From what I've read on the Flux model, you will be happy with that set up!

A little video with my digi camera. Stripped the piss out of the left rear wheel just after I shot this, you can hear it in the vid, those Traxxas wheels are too soft. Slapped the stock rears back on and was good to go for another 10 min. This truck is tons of fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQ9eb...e=channel_page And one getting a little air, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZglt...e=channel_page |
