Don't mess with the Hydra 120's, go with an Etti 150, the 120's are notorious for smoking at the least provocation....especially on 6S. The Etti 150 Opto is much more forgiving if you happen to over prop your motor. Check out Offshore Electrics for the etti 150 esc, also take a look at the Feigao motors, good price but very good quality.

You'll need a bigger esc then, I would run at least a 200amp esc or higher like a Hydra 240. Motor, Feigao 540 8XL maybe?

Yeah, that combo would work very well, but in a smaller boat like something in the low 30's size range. The 8XL is really too small for that boat. I looked at the motors and maybe a 580 10 or 12L would be better suited for a boat of that size, especially one originally designed to be powered by a Zenoah gasser. your doing similar to what I am... Big boat and electric power. You might look at some of the big outrunner airplane motors... They fly 1/4 scale planes with them and out perform the gas counterparts.

I actually ordered 2 hulls from aeromarine one is a cat which im going to put a 26cc gasser in and I got one of there thunderbolt hydro's im going to electrify I will most like end up running nimh just to add a little weight back into it sence it was designed for the gasser and decent amount of gas, I want it to stay in the water and not turn into a low flying plane |

I bet if you do the math, running big 6s packs and a motor that's comparable in power to the gas, the weight will be close to the same or heavier.

....until the 7 minute mark and yes typically comparable E vs gas setups, the E power will be slightly heavier. | |
