Default trailing arm

i would shoot for the trailing arm as a shock is usually mounted there and creates a pressure point and needs to be extra rigid. Also will need to take some abuse from debris. But you'll still need a panhard bar or atleast a 2 link to keep it planted from moving side to side and to limit twisting and unwanted movement besides up and down travel

Even if you use trailing arms you still need to have a 4-link set up to keep everything in place with a straight axle.
