Default Shock ? for non crawler help pls...

I have a original Tamiya Hornet. I really would like to swap shocks out on the thing. Having a VERY hard time finding such small shocks that would actually work on it? I know b/c of the weight on it .. very lil that the front is set up the way it is but does it HAVE to be that way??

Thnx in advance for any help to my question.

cant you just get a measurement of the shock length and try to find a pair of an identical length? or is the width really small too?
