If it was a black plastic chassis I've heard those are more brittle than the grey chassis... I believe STRC makes a alum chassis, you could also use a LCG Slash chassis- which is basically a ext. rustler chassis...

The link you have for the aluminum one is gonna be longer than the stock rustler chassis, so your body might have fitment issues. I have the normal length g10 chassis on mine and ive beat the crap out of it and nothing has broke, Where did it break exactly?

Maybe your overthinking the issue. I've been horribly abusing a Rustler for six years and have only broke one chassis. They only cost $15, and most of the aftermarket replacements seem to add more bling than performance. As far as shock shafts go, I have the optional Nitride coated shafts on mine and they are still scratch free after almost a year of offroad bashing. If your just bashing you can extend the wheelbase and track width by using rear arms up front with longer steering tie rods and camber links. Had this setup on mine for years now. Adds a ton of stability and wheel travel. IMO the extra cash for an aftermarket chassis would be better spend on aluminum castor blocks, knuckles, rear carriers, and Ti coated shock shafts. |

i have after market shocks on it now but the shaft broke off where it attaches to the arm. and i do need caster blocks cause mine are toast right now. im thinking about just getting another rustler or slash and just rebuilding ground up again. any thoughts on this

check out my Frankenstein thread that is an alum nitro chassis.....plus some custom stuff or look at a stock nitro rustler and see if you could put an upper chassis like those makes much stronger Last edited by THX_138; 10-01-2012 at 08:29 AM. |
