IMO I think coming out with a kit first is better and having the rtr closely follow if not be released at the same time. I think I like this more then the axial would be cool if it had a more scale tire on it.

Just looking at the size, shocks and shock towers and 17mm wheel hubs, I'd say this is a Vorza based 1/8 buggy. Looks to be noticably bigger than Axial's 1/10. That would make sense as the SC version would give them a nice competitor to Losi/Ofna/Jammin 4wd SC truck offerings.

the HPI looks more like a baja 1000 rig, whereas the axial looks more like a sand rail.
That's the part I like the best about it, the Exo Buggy is cool for sure but sand rails don't do anything for me.

I can see how you'd think the EXO is a sandrail but it's based more on a true prerunner, at least in my opinion. The HPI buggy is pretty sick. I just wish this whole short course/desert scene was actually 10th scale. It'd be awesome to have a scaler, trailer and a race buggy/truck. The HPI Mini Trophy truck is close, but too small. I'd like to see the EXO buggy next to an SCX for comparison.

It's called the HPI Apache C1 Flux, and RCCA has a first look at it.

So its 1/8th scale.. bummer. I was hoping it would be 1/10th scale and they would change those 1/8th scale buggy tires to 2.2/3.0 sc wheels. I guess not. That puts me out of the market for this.. and in the market for the axial more than likely.

That also means HPI is not releasing a 1/10th scale 4x4 sc truck, but an 1/8th scale. not cool.

Always like axial over hpi. i find hpi uses a brittle plastic and their recievers are a nightmare for working. id get the axial, and put a CC brushless system in it. Im already looking at selling my slash.

You got to add electronics on top of the price as well.

The Exo to me looks like wallet-job desert buggy, where as the Apache looks like a race vehicle. Like I said earlier, I think the Exo is definitely cool, but it doesn't do anything to make me want one.

Yeah the whole HPI being 1/8 is a throw off for me. Looks like it's based off the Vorza, but I'd still prefer Axial's 1/10.

I guess it all depends on release price...

Axial is saying around $350
HPI is saying around $650 but it's probably RTR

In the end with Axial's Exo properly equipped I think they'd be around the same price but better electronics as you can choose yourself.
