| RC Sand Rail
This thread is a little premature but, hey that's my life story. I'm getting Colquitt Customs to build me a sandrail chassis. I'm so excited I've already started buying everthing else I need to get it together. I done some looking and came up with these pics. Damn I'm excited. I'm not sure which brushless combo I'm gonna go with yet. Any help or input is needed! |

E-mail Jamie at Starluck RC (www.starluckrc.com), I purchased a brushless setup from him, he can reccomend the best setup for your vehicle's weight, size, purpose, and batteries. You can also check out http://www.rc-monster.com/. I'm pretty sure JRH can hook you up, too. You could use a MTroniks Genesis Pro: http://www.starluckrc.com/catalog/pr...roducts_id=135 And, depending on the weight of the sand rail, either a Feigao 380c or 380c-L motor: http://www.starluckrc.com/catalog/in...cPath=21_28_58 |

You think they look nice there, wait till you get one in person. We had our 2nd Sand Kings GT this last Saturday. 2 of us had our E-maxxes with huge brushless setups and that sand rail does a damn good job. I'll call DJ in a while. I don't know if he's doing some video of his own, if not I'll post up some of the quick and dirty raw footage I got. |

Whoever did those RC's does some outstanding work. I had to look really hard at the 3rd pic (1st post) to tell that it was a real one. I don't know, I really like all of the ones in the 2nd post a lot. I would go with one of those. Biggest decision should be two seater or four... |

Rc Monster, Jamie, and myself all have the same products, cause we get em from the same sources! Jamie has treated me well, and is very easy to deal with. I would second a 380C-6L motor. The long can will be needed because of the weight of vehicle. It will run on 6-10 cells no problem. |

BD, go with a sensorless like the 380, the Lehner 5300 Basic is also another popular one. Sensorless allows you to run diffrent motors, unlike the sensored Novak systems that you can only run certain Novak motors with.

Hey Jeff, let's see who gets his rail first . I just paid up for mine. I can't wait. I've got a full Fast Lane Machine stampede chassis that I'll be converting over. As for power, I'm waiting for the Mamba Maxx and its 1/10 counterpart to come out. The Castle ESC and motor are completely waterproof. There's a video or two floating around of the Mamba 25's running under water. |

Supposedly last word out was that Mamba Max would be out later this week. Granted, we've heard that story for over a year and a half now. I know we're speculating, but would a Stampede tranny stand up to the power of something like that? I'd like to get something I can put in a maxx sized/tranny truck or a stampede tranny. Of course, the reality is that while many people are obsessed with power, it comes to a point where it is no longer usable. I'd rather have runtime over power. We're in a pretty neat period of RC development right now with the widespread availability of LiPo's, Outrunners, and other cool brushless items. It doesn't hurt to experiment.

A lehner 5300 or 4200 would smoke and fry under the weight of a sand buggy. Not enough heat dissapation, not enough low end torque. Dont hold your breath on anything from Castle. The beta testers havent all gotten controllers yet. They aren't going to release without beta testing. It is the only reason why I carry Quark right now- I cant get Castle products. Soon I wont be able to carry Quark either. |

Ditto. I couldnt have said it better myself. Sure I can throw 2 horsepower into my pede. One horse more than enough though, and a good line between runtime and power.

WEEEEE....are you gonna have some sort of set-up instructions included? I'm sure it's pretty basic, but i'd rather not have to rely on my imagination....
