| tamiya grasshopper skatepark buggy
I have a old grasshopper hanging around and I was thinking of building a skatepark buggy out of it. Put on some decent shocks all around, some "street" tires, a stock tamiya 540, teu104bk esc, 2s lipo and top it off with a lexan vw bug body. My only concern is weather it will hold up to some asphalt abuse or not. Anyone have any insight on durability?

They are pretty tough, when new otherwise the rear axle assembly and the hinge portion on chassis get fragile over the years. A set of brat wheels/tires would give it that street look your after

Yeah she's a original release so I may have to go to something else, I just figured a grasshopper would be a nice change from the usual suspects.

A 2wd/4wd short course truck would be better suited for skate park bashing |

I got my daughter a Losi XXXsct for x mas & I am very happy with the durability & good handling. They are cheap new & are fairly common these days. There is a xxx-scb in the classifieds right now for just over 100 for a complete roller with esc & motor. |

I'd recommend doing the FX-10 front suspension conversion to it and add one of the stock front shocks to the middle of the rear to take the torque twist out of it. The grasshopper is pretty tough. The gearbox can crack if ya land on it wrong, but they are cheap and easy to swap out.
