| Good ESC for drag car
Our local group is starting a "no prep" class for buggy/short course cars. Rules are limited to 2s and 1/10th scale motors. I'm wondering if there are any ESC's that would allow me to tailor the torque curve of the motor (via current limiting or timing changes) to tune for a lack of traction? Preferably one that is tunable via an android app? |

Checkout HobbyWing and their Wifi module. They have great ESCs and the WiFi module allows you to use an app to tune it.

Mamba Monster X, your radio would need AUX to do the one the fly adjustment.

This is obviously not my area of expertise but I think what he's getting to is this. The setup you mentioned allows a 3rd channel to toggle a feature on or off (crawl mode for example). What I'm looking for is to tweak the power output while in the pits, and have it set a particular way for a run. So not dynamically changed on the fly, but changed and saved in the ESC. |

| Re: Good ESC for drag car He's looking for tuning. This toggle is not what I'd call tuning. Quote:

Torque Control Adjustment The controller's torque limit is controlled by the AUX wire signal. The torque control is scaled from 0.1 at 1.1ms signal received on the AUX wire to 5.0 at 1.9ms. Torque control is disabled when the input exceeds 1.9ms. If the AUX wire becomes disconnected, the controller will use the torque limit set in Castle Link. It is not a toggle. Same applies if you assign the aux wire to the Max Power Adjustment, Reverse Percentage Adjustment, Max Brake Adjustment, or Drag Brake Adjustment. The Reverse Enable/Disable and Rock Race/Crawler Mode function as toggles (the Rock Race/Crawler Mode is more complex than that, but is not topical here). Quote:
With the aux wire connected to a variable output channel (knob or up/down buttons) on your remote, this would allow you tweak the torque throughout its range, on the fly, if you want, from the transmitter. It would meet your requirements of having the ability to make adjustments without 'touching' the truck. I have the wifi<>phone feature on my video camera, point-n-shoot camera, and gopro, but for this application the mamba x is a much more elegant solution. And, it's a good esc at a good price. Ideally you would want to use a transmitter that gave you a numerical reading for the channel position, that you could note for reference use for subsequent races, and for starting points at other locations. For example, I could do this with my Tactic TTX300 third channel, but I would have no visual indicator for where the torque was set; a transmitter with a knob would be better, but an LCD readout would be best. | ||
