| Jet Powered B2 Stealth Bomber
A friend of mine in Colorado has been working on this project for the better part of a year, and it is now airborne and he got some pics. I figured we may have some air fans around here that may appreciate this so I wanted to share it here too. It has two jet turbines and something over 20 servos, pretty intense machine he’s built. A video of it starting up! https://www.facebook.com/10003679834...516408825/?d=n Last edited by Topher Builds; 03-21-2020 at 01:53 PM. |

That is wild. These are inherently unstable and seeing a scale version is interesting.

Very cool! B1 bombers have always amazed me. It’s hard to believe they have the ability to fly and stay in the air! I’ve been a plane freak since I was a kid and wish I had the talent and funds to fly the scale versions of them! For now I’ll have to stick to ground vehicles! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Isn't this the B2? The B1 was the one with the sweeping wings? Nevertheless... Pretty rad! |

Back in high school I went to the flying field with him once and he let me try to fly one of his planes on a trainer remote he had (he could take control if needed) and man it was hard! Had a difficult time orienting myself and figuring out how to move the sticks. After that I’ve been intimidated out of trying to fly again even after being in the hobby for a couple years. Another video up of take off https://www.facebook.com/10003679834...949732215/?d=n And it’s a 20 channel receiver, with 13 servos, 3 landing gears, and then the two jet engines. Last edited by Topher Builds; 03-21-2020 at 04:55 PM. |

As soon as I saw this on your page I've been sharing it around. It's amazing. So drool worthy. And I'm not even a plane guy. What did he build it from? It's so smooth that it looks like it's made by a company. I'm sure his budget was thousands. |

Here’s a pic for scale of just how massive it is. He had to get a toy hauler just to transport it. It might be this one here... https://carf-models.com/en/products/b-2-spirit | |

I fly Planes too. They are on a whole different level in complexity, or simplicity depending on the model. Comp guys would love them as every gram of weight has to be considered, and not just the weight, but where it is placed, and how that affects cg. I have a couple planes that are just throw in a battery and fly, and I have a couple that require balancing and surface tweaks almost every outing. Monocoat, and it's variants give a glass like surface, over a hard balsa construction is the traditional way of building planes. Foam and foam board are also used now and are gaining popularity. Then there is foam core, and fiberglass/carbonfiber. Most planes have a minimum of 3 servos plus esc that all need to be turning the right way, plus esc, and then many have a 3axis gyro as well. I have a couple with 6-7 servos 1per flap, 1 per aileron, 1 rudder, 1-2 elevator. With a big plane like the B2 dual servos on surfaces could help with redundancy and strength. Planes are a whole different level, and I love them. For price, model turbines start @$3500 and only go up! Plus you need special certification! |

These jets are impressive. Roger Knobel has been scratchbuilding SR71 Blackbirds for several years. Here's one from 2013:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lYGUROZ_Pg |
