Default Newest Rock Crawler

This is one of those behind the scenes sneak peeks that you rarely see or hear about.

Greg was doing the review of the Shockwave 55 SS and, at 40MPH, hit some rocks.

The boat went airborne, barely missed Greg at about eye level, and headed off into the nearby woods.

Came to rest with the prop hitting a tree stump...which started to smoke. It was at this point that the guys found out that, for whatever reason, the kill switch didn't work.

The prop is actually burnt.

Once the piston welded itself to the engine case it finally stopped.

Good bit of damage to this one, but it can be repaired.

Will be a lot of work, but should be fun when done.

Enjoy the pics. I can't look at'm without laughing when I think about the sequence of events that played out to make this happen.

Notice the lack of a driver or throttle man. I think I'd have bailed out as well.

Couple more...

Both rudders were ripped off the boat.

Must've been a sight to see.

I think he's referring to the driver and throttle man that both bailed.

Here's a size reference pic...That's a Clod with XLs.

I asked Greg why he didn't try to catch it.

That is a really nice boat! A friend of mine that has his own machine shop, built one, did some machine work to the motor, bored it out and some other stuff that I am not too sure about, took it to the lake, it was hitting around 60mph, fast enough that the DNR made him stop running it around the No Wake Zone!

BTW: Nice Hustler Frame!!!!

going 40mph in a 1:1 boat is feels faster then you think. i'm sure you've been on a boat before, but going 40 feels like 70 in a car (or faster). not sure why, but whatever!

Try water skiing at 60.

Instant headache when you make a mistake and slap the water...then proceed to skip about five times.
