| PAINT PEEL.......on my new grappler
so i got the grappler body all painted up as i posted before. after i paint all my rock crawling bodies i shoe goo on traxxas plastic body washers so the body doesn't rip and never had a problem till now. im not sure if the paint was bad, the shoe goo, or when i prepped the body i didn't get all the soap off. im guessing it had something to do wit the shoe goo but like i said, ive used shoe go alot before and never had this happen. just finished.... and the peel.... im gonna respray that area and hope for the best. |

I like Shoe Goo to and that happened to me with Pactra fluorescent orange paint that I backed with Pactra white. I was also reinforcing body post holes. It had never happened before, and I'm sure it was the Goo. It was a new tube (red) and I was wondering if they had changed the formula. |

Thats weird, that is the norm with floresent paint. And I used to use shoe goo on onroad bodies all the time and never had that problem. I wonder if it is like you said, maybe you did'nt get all the dish soap off. :-(

Bummer  Maybe scuff up the area around the holes next time, just in case. |

That is really weird, We only use high grade lexan so I doubt it's the material (but you never know). Maybe an older batch of paint? Is it the paint peeling anywhere else? The flourecents (spelling?) always seem more "chaulky" like and tend to flake a little easier than the standard colors. I'll be checking this post to see what you come up with. Thanks, Rich |

| Yup I had the same problem with Pactra flourescent with a white back up doesn't work wit Shoo Goo to chalky. Andy if you don't like Faskolor just say it don't beat around the bush. |

What was the room temperature while painting? And how long did you wait before applying the Shoo Goo? You should let the paint cure at least 48 hours before applying anything to it, like shoo goo. |

The Pactra white doesn't adhere that well to the fluorescent colors. The Shoe Goo just pulled it off. Instead of using the Shoe Goo, try just some double sided tape. That should work a lot better.

Same, I have NEVER had an issue with Auto Air (Faskolor) Pactra paints do go "bad" if they are used and then sit for a while. Or just sit for a long time before they are bought from the store. Any paint, after I am finished, i cover the areas where the body posts are with clear duct tape and then it is all protected. Dave |

the only thing i can think of is that i didn't let the paint cure long enough before applying the shoe goo. i let the paint dry for a good 24 hours in between colors. the temp where i paint was in the 70's. another thing i noticed was the shoe goo was very hard and not as flexible as i seen it before. maybe my shoe goo went bad ? the paint hasn't flaked off anywheres else on the body. i did manage to crack the front grill but that was on cold day (30 ish degrees) and the paint stayed on. idk, lol its a rcok crawler body..they get beat up any way. right now im repainting the are. i roughed it up with some sand paper and cleaned it off and i just finished the 3rd coat of green then i will back it with white and post pics. thanks guys for all your comments. |

Have you considered the Dan's Body Mount dots? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXB806&P=ML I do like these and have had exellent luck with them, with few paint lift problems. |

ive used them before. thats more of a cushion to keep the body from rattling around. i cant see it really strengthening the body mount area. | |

My Painter uses the Auto Air / FasKoat and my Nitro bodies last forever when he does them... He does back everything with FasKoat to protect the paint from the nitro. I add tons of shoe goo all over, new and old stuff, and I have never had it peel at all. |

I have had this happen with Patra flouresents before. I don't think they have the "hold" regular opaques do (even with hitting the body with steel wool). I quit using the flouresents and have never had problem since... I also know the new formula shoo goo sucks, but am betteing on the paint. |
