Default Masking off...

I need some help in this department..Whenever I tape off an area..even the simplest of designs..paint ALWAYS gets under the tape..I've tried a few different ones and still the same result. Now, I realize it could very well be user error and I just have to learn to live with it. What kind of tape/techniques do you all use?

If you spray it on in really thin coats you should be fine.

Yes, the first coat should be a very thin coat so that it kind of "seals" the tape. Buy a high quality masking tape and make sure you rub the edges of the tape so it makes a good seal.

Can always go the liquid mask route.. Put on multiply thin coats (Like 4-5) otherwise its a real pain to get off.

Liquid Mask. I draw all my designs on the outside of the body. I use a foam brush to paint the liquid mask on the inside of the body. Then use a new exato blade and cut away what you want to paint first. Then cut and paint again. This will eleminate most of your bleeds.

scotch makes a tape called "plastic vinyl tape" and ti works really well.it doesnt bleed and leaves no residue on the body like electrical tape does. only problem is it comes in 1" wide rolls only. used to come in wider but i can not find that any more.

use a plastic card to rub the edges down . then as stated light coat at first . so light you can still see thru it . let that coat dry about 10 mins or so . then another light one , let it dry and so on . don't rust painting a body . I'm not a pro but take your time you will get it .
