| Neat way to define door lines, etc...
While painting a reissue Tamiya Brat body for my Wheely King project, I thought of an easy way to define door lines, hood lines, etc... Just take a waterproof drafting pen and carefully draw in the indents on the body. The Tamiya body took to a 0.3 Staedtler pen well, the nib fit in the lines almost perfectly. Patience is the key here, although if you mess up you can wipe the mistake off quickly. The doors and tailgate look much more refined. I haven't weather-tested it yet, but if it comes off you can always draw them back on This is the first body I've painted so I didn't go all out on some custom paint job! I like the semi-scale look anyway. Its gonna be a shame to butcher the wheel wells to fit my WK. Dunno if this pen tip has been suggested before and I'm a newb, but I didn't see it anywhere so here it is! |

I did the same thing with a panel pen. It's almost as easy to clean off. You need to use alcohol though. It will get rubbed off with the rock abrasions and you will need to keep touching it up. I may try it on the inside next time, but it's a lot easier on the outside where you can keep the pen tip in the grooves. Body looks great! |

I like that body, but when I do detail lines I always reach for the Sharpie pen and use the fine point. Usually with a wet rag and a little elbow grease I can fix my mistakes. The first hobby grade car I saw was the Subaru Brat when it was first released. I ended up getting the Super Blackfoot though, ok I am off topic sorry.
