| Hacked Betty
Got my Betty body all nice an painted the other day only to hack at it the next, lol. I did the dove tail method to the rear. I think it helps keep a "stock" look to the body. Last edited by chops1sc; 08-09-2008 at 11:57 PM. |

Nice job on the dovetailling. If the screws on the tailgate were a different color, they would look like taillights. |

I love those dove tails on the Betty Power Wagons. I think I can see how you've done that from your pictures and I've got one in the package here to try on |

Man that is awesome looking! I have been researching dovetailing for a while and can't seem to figure out how exactly it is done...could you shed some light on someone in the dark on dovetailing the betty?

Thanks, guys. The best way I know how to explain it is to show pics. Here are a few of it apart.... First 2 cuts are the long ones on the bed. Then a cut to meet those on the tailgate. Then I trimmed the tailgate so it would fit without bulging anywhere. Then I trimmed the corners of the front of the bed so it easily bends inward. Then I drilled the holes and fastened the sections with CS washers and screws. Some PPL use pop rivets but I wanted it to be removable. The sides you cut however you wish them to be cut. I hope this helps!! Last edited by chops1sc; 08-10-2008 at 12:00 AM. |

No problem guys, after running a pack down in my back yard I realize I have to cut the fenders off the front. They almost wrap around the axle when I back up while on the rocks! I might leave them alone and just pick up a comp body. Any suggestions?

Sorry about that, guys! I forgot I moved some pics around. here are some updated pics since hacking even more. I have it mounted as low as it will possibly go and the sides are held in by velcro straps. I moved the mounts to the same level as the shock mounts. Very little hang-ups now. |
