Just got a rockstar body and want to do flames. Not the realistic ones just jour everyday flames.... What is the best way to make those tiny little flames and in what order should I spray... Flames(white) then color(blue) or vis versa.. Tia!! |

Mask the flame area. I started with the shadows first. Then I painted the chrome. I did the RED before the yellow. It took me about 2 hours. Use a blow dryer to help speed up the prosses. Hope this helps..... -Jerome |

If your main body color is going to be blue you should paint that first. Mask your flames, piant the main color and then paint your flames. Always try to paint the darkest colors first to prevent bleeding and/or mudding the lighter colors.

go online to any hobby sight...ie tower hobbies and do a search for masks. You'll find tons of flame masks. Pick a style you like and apply the flame mask carefully following the directions. paint the main body color first. use a hair drier will help especially after the last coat of the main body color. the heat tends to shrink the masking material a little for easier removal. regards caci |

Your LHS will also likely have some flame masks if they're any good. Cheaper than mail ordering, and you get to support a local shop.

rule of thumb it would be best to lay down your colors from darkest to lightest in ur case lay down the blue than then the white Last edited by NeXt559; 11-04-2008 at 11:55 PM. |
