Default adding detail lines to hard bodys

I searched but did not find what I was looking for.

Ok, lets say I went ahead and made a crewcab F350. How do you guys add the window trim line around the window in the new styrene piece? Do you add the trim line to the styrene before you join it to the body? or after? Also should I be whittling away with an exacto? or is there another tool I should be using. Thanks

You want a panel scriber, like this one. I have one from back when I built plastic models, and can tell you they are better than you can imagine.

Good Luck!
