Default Skyjacker Paint Job

Hello everyone,

I am starting a build to match the Skyjacker JK that was at the 2006 SEMA show. I cant seem to find the paint codes on the internet. I have looked on Tamiya's website at their color charts and I dont see any that match well. What other brands of spray paint would ya'll think carry these colors? If you dont know please dont talk trash just to post, no offense but I tried his on Pirate4x4 this morning and everyone that replied back were extremely rude and ignorant. Thank you in advance. I have attached a photo for those who dont know what JK I am talking about.

Thank you,
Justin

With that fancy of a color you might look into useing a House Of Color type candy. And or mixing a one off color from the Parma Fastcolor options. I use Pacrta Lexan and have been very happy over the years. HtH. CYA

Thank you. I think I might have to mix colors for that one. Or I could get the actual paint from the 1:1, might be a bit pricey tho.

If it is not lexan paint then I would not run it. The paint will flake off.

since it's a JK body then I'm assuming that it is the one that is sold at Wal-marx. so any enamel or laquer paint would due.
check the auto parts store for automotive touchup paint, or go to a craft store such as Micheals and look what they have.
with a lexan body you are limited to polycarbonate paints, but with a hard body you can look for paint anywhere that sells enamel or laquer paint.

The guys at Skyjacker are very friendly and I'm SURE they'd give you the paint codes if you ask them. If not, PM me- I know someone there.

Most good car parts suppliers can mix small amounts of paint. I just had some factory match oddball color paint done- two half pints (had two colors made) were $40 total. They can add flex agent if necessary, just ask.

yea the guys on pirate are usually a$$es. I dont post over there anymore cuz of that.

That being said its not just the flex agents you need, you need a paint that bonds well. IMO look into fastcolor or the house of kolor lexan paints (they make a special line). I looked forever for a good tangerine orange pearl and HOK had it

if its a hardbody you can ignore everything that has been said, since all you need is a good plastic primer then any paint with a flex agent.

Ok, thanks man. The Mew Bright JK body is kind of weird feeling. It doesnt look like lexan, but the material isnt as thick as other hard bodies that ive seen. I used uatomotive primer on it after I sanded the surface and it is sticking well. I will definately look into House Of Kolor paints. IMO they have the nicest colors available.

Just remember to spray light coats if you're going to use HOK paint or any automotive paint. Otherwise the solvents in the paint can damage the plastic.

On model cars, I've used Dupli-Color scratch-filling primer as a base for HOK paint jobs with great results...
