| Any thought on a better way to do this paint job
Im about to paint my first rc body. Its a parma ford f100 and its goin on a scale build Im doin. I want it to look like those crappy spray paint camo jobs you see on hunting trucks. I would like it too look like it rusts and gets scratched up after running it a few times. From what Ive read the best way to get this effect is to paint my rust color on the inside and my camo on the outside. Am I right? Any other thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. thanx

No, Paint everything on the outside. First paint your rust color then do your camo paint. So when you roll over or scratch the paint then the rust underneath will show. |

I'd paint the rust on the inside and the camo on the outside... If you paint it all on the outside once srcatched you'll end up clear |

I don't know if this would work, but how about a coat of silver-gray under the camo to give a rust/bare metal/paint effect as the body gets bashed? Narly1 |

Well the more Ive thought about it the more ive realized how much easier this would be with an airbrush. I think since this is my first paint job Im gonna wimp out and just do maybe a 2 color paint job. I was thinkin somethin like this: compliment all you want on my beutiful paint skills...lol |

Ricky, your truck looks the muts nuts... Parker, as well as painting the rust color inside I would also paint a slightly lighter rust color on the outside as a base coat. It will give the appearance of being feathered around the edges when it gets scraped up. Also you can use varying shades of rust to make it look like older damage. Good luck... |

To get the film off just scratch it with your fingernail and it will peel right off. I wash mine with window cleaner. But sounds like you got it. post some pics. | |

Doing camo is not that hard, I painted this one in about 20 mins. just painted it the primary color first, then cut some shapes out of a cereal box and go crazy. I want to add some more colors but it was cold as hell outside when I painted it. Good thing about painting the outside, you can always change it. |

You can still do a camojob on it latter. The way I have done some is to find some leaves and lay them down flat and then spray over the top of them. This worked well for me when I had to do my bow and frame pack for a turkey hunt. I know it is winter now but if you wanted to do it now you could go to a craft store and find some plasic ones, or even a thrift shop might have some plastic office plants that you could use. Hope this will help.
