| First timer: I've got Questions, you have answers?
Up untill now I've always bought bodies used (already painted), simply because it was easier than actually painting a body...I always lucked out with the paint too, I always seemed to find one that fit my style perfectly I've got a thing for white bodies.Basically I'm looking to mask off the windows and paint er white... no graphics, no details, just white... I was looking at paint and noticed that there's several different variations of white, and I'm now confused...:? I found these at Tower... are either any good? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCY28&P=0 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCY14&P=0 -What brand/part # would you suggest? -How many ounces of paint should I expect to go through per body? (I'll be painting 2 different bodies... but at different times. First, I'll paint up a new body for my XXX-CR, then a 1-10 beetle for my TLT) I have a grappler body that I got used from a member that was painted white, and it's perfect... (it's just beat up and time for a change...) Whoever painted it didn't back it with anything, but IMO it didn't need it... Will I need to back my bodies? Any random tips you can provide about shooting white paint will help Thanks in advance -Greg |

both paints will work fine, the pearl will have a bit of a blue shimmer from the micro "glitter" or like the surface of a "pearl" haha! the sprint white is just regualar brite white no mettalics or pearls its really easy to prep, wash the body out with a degreaser ( or an oil free hand soap) mask it, and spray it..... back with a grey if you having see through problems |

its probally sitting on yoru kitchen counter, you can go to the autobody shop and get a gallon for around 30 bucks of a light duty paint prep wax grease remover. or you can just use the oil free hand soap. for the paint your spraying the soap will be 30 bucks less and do just fine.

You will have to back the pearl white. When I sprayed mine it was very see through and didn't look very white(more clear metallic). I had some sprint white on hand so I backed it with that, and it looks pretty good to me. My other recommendation for the pearl white is to spray it on very thin and let it dry between coats. I sprayed it too heavy trying to get it to look white. The metallic flakes just pooled up in the corners. So spray lightly a couple times. When you are satisfied with the shimmer, back it with a solid white.
