Default Spaz Stix "Blacker" needed?

Do I really need to use their blacker paint when using their color change paint or will any black paint work? Thanks.

With the chrome you can only use their white or nothing. It says on the can/bottle to not use the black. I bought some black with the intention of backing the chrome and it said not too. The chrome I did came out fine and it doesn't have a backer to it. Just make sure you do light coats to get the mirror effect.

If you put mirror chrome anywhere... you should always back it. That stuff scuffs and smugdes way too easy to leave it.

I use a water based black... Fasblack from Faskolor... or Createx, Auto Air... any water based black will do the trick. Crazyace... how does your chrome look after backing it with white? I've never tried that, or heard of anyone who has. It would be interesting to see some results on that.

Nothing beats a shiney mirror chrome

Actually it looks great. I have had this Baja body for over a year and it still shines like the day I got it. I got it from a painter on HBF and he did a great job. The chrome I have on my crawler body still looks great even after a few tumbles.

gonna have to see pictures or im callin shinanigans

every miror chrome paint ive ever seen and worked w/ advises you to use a black backer for optimum results.
even in 1:1 mirror chrome is always painted over a gloss black.

imho the real trick to gettng mirror chrome lookin good is to make sure the area you're painting is perfectly smooth. the smallest finger print scratch spec of dust or smudge is going to show through because of how small the particles are in the paint.

personally i like to go over areas im going to paint w/ mirror chrome w/ a mild soap, thouroughly washed. then dry it w/ a micro fiber cloth to make sure its clean. drying w/ a hair dryer can lead to water spots

I didn't back the mirror chrome on my SCX10 and I couldn't be happier. Only time will tell how durable it is though.

Nope he backed them with white only. The other guy was asking me for pics of my white backed chrome body and if I didn't have any he wouldn't believe me. Chrome can be backed with white without any problems.

always back Chrome with Black. white gives it a finer chrome while black gives it a deeper chrome.
One thing that people dont understand is that Spaz Stix Chrome is top of the line, but when coating chrome on anything, hold it up to the light and you will see if you fully covered it. If you see light through the product then you need to keep coating it. Also Spaz Chrome when dry is a no prus paint. its more of a dusting that covers. If you place it on a part of the body that requires you to mount through it, always use a felt or rubber self adhesive protector to keep the body mounts from rubbing it because it will scratch easily. I back all my shells after painting everything with a couple of good coats of Rustoleum plastic paint to seal in all the paint. and never place adhesive anything on a part that is painted chrome unless you plan to keep it there. as soon as you remove it, its taking the paint with it! here is a few chrome jobs I have done
