If you use printable shrinkydink the plates turn out perfect.
I used that site to generate my plate, printed it on shrinkydink and after baking it in the oven it came out perfect size.

For those of you under 30 here is a link to what shrinkydink is. (and no, it dosn't involve cold water )

Copy and paste the License Plate image into Word--set it up for the appropriate labels you're using before hand--and then, in Word, you can click and drag to change the entire label size. You can do this for each individual label, so you can print different sizes at one time.

what I did (for a different site in the UK) was to save the pic off to my HDD, or copy/paste into photoshop elements (or paintshop/GIMP etc)

1) cut out the actual license plate using the crop tool, or selecting it and choosing image->crop

2) now make sure you're using 300dpi. go to resize->image size. In 'resolution', set it to 300 and units as 'inches'. Make sure the 'resample images' is checked. Click ok.

if it suddenly got huge, don't worry, thats just so its more lined up with the printer resolution

2) now we want to make it the right size. figure this out based on your original license plates, and the scale you are working to. Eg in the UK, standard license plate is 20.5" wide. For 1/10th that would be 2" wide, give or take.

Again, choose resize->image size. This time, under 'document size', go to 'width'. Make sure the units are set to inches, and put the desired width in the box - in my example, I'd put 2. The height should adjust automatically to retain the aspect ratio. Click OK

You should now have a license plate that'll print out at the right size for your vehicle. As you'll need to repeat this for front/rear, do select->all, then copy the entire image and paste it into a new document. Then you can just paste a few copies down before printing out.

For the UKers out there - www.myshowplates.co.uk is a good place to put whatever you like - it doesn't restrict what you can type in, and you can choose different sizes of plates and different badges etc.

holy crap i totally forgot about those (shrinkey dinks). i remember going to wolworth's w/ my dad during his lunch break when i went w/ him to work one day and picked up a pack of those for me because there was nothing for a 7 year old kid to do at an accounting office.

just think about all the things you can make w/ this stuff besides licence plates. things like scale air fresheners, scale clip board, cluster guages, heck i can even imagine making a scale i pod w/ this
