Default true chrome plated parts

chrome plated parts - what do you thing, does it make any sense for big scale trucks? This is the first approach, chrome plated foglights (aluminum body):

the surface quality is very good but thread do not match after plating because chrome coating added some thickness.

Looks great I use to polish parts for a local bike shop. They did chrome plating there. On parts that were threaded they would put screws in them so it didn't get plated on the threads. I would do that and you won't have the prob of them not fitting after words.

Did you plate them? What process did you use?

check this closeup:

the part size is just 1in (25mm) in diameter. It's quite small.

this is an industrial electroplating done at a specialized factory and nicely described at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_plating. It's too toxic to do this in the lab, don't try at home
