Default Finally painted my Toyota:

The stripes are made from Papilio clear laser sticker paper, hope these are the right decals for it. Made the toyota emblems also, I didn't see any of those on pics of the tamiya stickers. I just found another pic online though where they came with a hood stripe. damn! There seems to be a lot of different types of stripes toyota did.

BTW, it looks like these are made to have a bunch of tiny LEDs in the turn signals and stuff. Has anyone lit all those things up? I imagine that's going to require some creativity to do it right.

Well I guess that truck I was looking at had faded stickers, lol. Found this:

It doesn't have hood stripes either though. Lotsa different stripes came on these apparently:

If I remember correctly all the leds are 3mm other than the headlites. They look really good all lit up. I usually order my leds from Digikey, really inexspensive and fast shipping too. Just so you know they are not pre-wired so you need to solder leads on them. I have also found a guy on ebay from Michigan that has pre-wired leds and he is reasonable too.

Honestly, I like your color scheme and design the best, even if it was based on a faded truck. I like the understated look.

I completely agree. You picked the right stripe scheme and the colors look great.

Besides, who wants a shiny, mint-looking crawler anyway? Faded paint, rust and dings seem like welcome touch of realism around here.

Edit: I also appreciate the Manwich flex shot.

yea lots of different stripe options... this was my first Toyota 4x4...

and what i'm working on currently...

your rig looks great just the way it is... take it out and beat it... and as far as the lights go the sidemarkers take 1 bulb each and the tail lights take 3 a white, a amber, and a red...

I just happened to have that paint color laying around, which is a nice 80s color. I was going to do white, because when the paint scrapes off, the plastic is white...

Anyhow thanks for the compliments. I just picked up some 3mm LEDs from radioshack today. I know they aren't the best, but at $3 for a bundle, that's not bad, and they don't need to be bright except the headlights. I've seen some with super bright signals and it looks ridiculous.

Right by my house there's a great crawl spot at the local park that is open until 11pm and partially it, so it will work out great with the lights. I'll be sure to add more pics. These LEDs probably won't make it on there until next week though. :(

I love those steel wheels biteme, I'm tempted to get a set.

Default Nice

Sometimes the best paint scheme is the classic ones, and this is a great look at one done right.

You can make your own light kit, there's a few different LED calculators out there you can use. I wired up everything here except the turn signals and reverse lamps. I used different resistors to get the side markers and parking lamps dimmer than the headlights and tail lights.
