| painting details
I'm gonna be paintin my xj body soon, but i've only painted one body (the honcho) and i'm not sure what the best way is to paint all the details. the body's gonna be white, and i want the little stuff like the window seals, roof rack rails, bumpers, and part of the grill black. (reference pic of my 1:1 of how i want the grill) I'm not really worried about the bumpers, but i'm not sure about everything else. Should i use a spray can? or a brush? i also found a paint pen that seems to stick pretty good. Also, would you suggest doing the black first, then white over everything? or masking off the black parts, and painting them after the white is on? or just using the pen or brush on the outside of the body? as for masking, what's the best method for detailed parts? should i get the liquid mask or just use tape? I see a lot of xj bodies on here with the trim painted how i want, but have yet to see anyone explain how they did it. thanks in advance and sorry for the noob questions |

Not sure about the paint pens, but most of what you want done I would do with and brush since it's mostly small stuff. I have painted the bed cover on one body with a brush, just kind of a bigger job. Once you get it painted, what ever method you use, post it up. |
