my local hobby shop has lots of textured panels in the model train section. Diamond plate, siding, shingles, wood grain, you name it.

you could use that real aluminum diamond plate the 1/10th stuff and glue it to some styrene...or use the styrene diamond plate and back it with thicker styrene..myself i use the styrene stuff and just use it as a skin..i always build what i need then just cover it with the DP although it is 1/16th scale it still looks great on a build..im anxious to use that aluminum DP that rpp has but dang 20bux for 2 sheets..thats kinda steep..and its super duper thin..would be great for interior trim work or skinning styrene
