need help in making body panels

Im in the process of making body panels for a scx10 tube chassis. I premade some out of sheet metal and it made the truck a little too heavy. I was wondering is there any other substitute for sheet metal instead of aluminum sheets? Aluminum sheets here are waaaay too pricey they cost $46 for a 12x24.
