Default Bought some ColorShift paint at Lowes, here is the result

Saw this stuff at Lowes for $15 and decided to try it on a Pro-line Ford F100 body I just got. I love the result. I used 3 medium thickness coats of the Rust-oleum ColorShift and a couple coats of Valspar satin black behind it.

Video that shows the color shifting:

Liking it. Take some pics of it outside in the sun. Should be awesome.

Pretty sweet paintjob...I saw the can and it said "apply over black basecoat" but since you're using it on lexan that's not really an option. I hope that paint adheres well. If it doesn't next time try an adhesion promoter or paint the outside of the body and spray the inside with dark red-orange lexan paint so if the outside scratches off you can get a rusted out look.

if it acts like the Duplicolor 3 stage chameleon paint, it will stick to lexan with no problems. the heavier the top coat, the more flip it has. back with flat black, and its all good!

Yes, it flexes fine. I did 2 tests on pieces of lexan from the trimmed excess of the body and was able to bend them completely over on themselves with out any cracking or warping.

J-bird
For the color shift paint they had 2 different colors, but the Valspar paint comes in just about every shade imaginable.

You just reverse the process since you are painting the inside, paint the black on last.
Yes, the paint is sticking perfectly to the lexan without any problems.

It is just higher quality than the other big brands like Krylon, etc. After alot of spray painting (RC, furniture, home decor, automotive etc.) I have found Valspar to be the best looking, least runny, easiest to apply spray paint brand out there. It's all I ever use now...unless I try out something new like the Rust-oleum colorshift paint.

I seen this a year ago @ Lowes and wanted to try it, but it was $19 a can , it must have came down in price since then.
Thanks for posting these pics, now I know what it looks like on lexan, might be worth the $15 now

let us know if it starts to flake off in a few days or not.

spazstix has some killer color flip paint with several combos to choose from. over time the paint that you used will flake off. it might work for a little bit but as it cures longer it will act up. but maybe you will get lucky and it holds up.

Well then, consider me the guinea pig. I'll be sure to report back in a few weeks, a month, etc.

If your other valspar painted rigs held up I see no reason why this wouldn't.

Is it enamel or laquer? I thought you have to use a special paint to bond to lexan? what am I missing?
