Default Mojave body stretched to fit Honcho chassis.

So I won a Axial Dingo at a G6 raffle...
But I already have two Honcho's

Thing is... I want to install Mojave bodies to the Honcho's
So I want to exchange the Dingo for two Mojave bodies...
And my LHS whom sponsored the raffle is willing to exchange/trade
the Dingo for two TF2 Mojave body kits (complete kits)

Thing is... even tho' the Dingo is the correct wheel base
I really don't want to shorten up the wheel base on the Honcho's.

So my question is...

Has anyone bob'd the rear of the Mojave bed...
and then grafted a section into the forward side of the bed's fender well openings ?

after looking thru this thread ...
I couldn't be sure if I saw this done on any Hilux body in this thread...
But I thought I may have and just wasn't sure from the pics alone.

If someone has already done this...
I would appreciate if you might share that with me...
a link to that would be so kind.

Would I need a second bed to use for the forward graft section...
or would it be possible to use the section removed from the bed bob ?

Thanks ahead if you can help or know sumthang

your Idea would work 100 percent but it might not be enough to match the honcho wheel base, you might need a extra bed to make enough space to fit, would look cool tho, would look like a long bed

Is this what it would have to look like..?
(^ referencing the bed)
Looks like the wheel base length on this is somewhat longer then a Honcho's !?

It looks a little longer forward of the rear wheel well....
But I can't be sure... maybe not !?

would seem this has a lengthened bed with a bob !? ("long bob")

guess I'll have to PM toms garage and ask 'im

I don't really want to have it ending up looking like the first pic's bed
so I guess I'd have to pass if that's where it might lead me.

What's a Dingo WB? 11.4". What's a Honcho WB? 12.3". You need to remove .9" behind the wheel opening and add it to the front of the wheel opening. That can be done with one bed. There's enough behind the wheel opening to bob a Hilux bed 1.75". You just got hit with math!

Tho' I have a basic understanding of wheel base L&W requirements
I don't have the body in possession to be able to determine other measurements of detail.

so pardonmynoob !? Lol

Won't I need to factor in the loss from the cut(s) ?
or maybe just fill them when positioned ? :dunno:

really appreciate you throwing in your $ .02
Tho' minimal information... what you did share is invaluable

and with that...

Two white plastic Mojave body kits are on their way to me !

Unless you're using a chainsaw to cut the body your kerf shouldn't be a concern.

Like this? Moved the arch back about an inch, Now it is about 12.5" centered. I am making custom links so I will make the WB fit the body.

Stock bed under

Stock WB truck just with a bob under

I did this as well I added the section from the bed bob to in front of the wheel well and am basically set with a Honcho wheelbase.

To cut it I just used a razor saw (plastic saw) and cut along some tape I put on the body, pretty simple.

but failed at finding the details when searching out my inquiry.

What glue did you use and what's the green stuff, body filler?

I chose to move the arch, I wanted to leave the bed full length. Either way works fine though, just whatever you feel comfortable with. Backed up with styrene over the full extent of the cuts

^ I like that ! that looks like it'd be easier for matching body contours...

hmmm... to bob... or not to bob ?! :dunno:

How much overhang of the bed is left with your method ?
any issue with reach to the frame for a bumper mount ?
homebrew frame extension needed ?

Thanks for sharing

This is cool - I am basicly doing the same on my TF2 to get some more wheelbase. Not sure what the final WB will be but should be close to Turtles version. Leafed rear - 3link front.

Default Mojave body stretched to fit Honcho chassis.

I stretched one back in '09. Cut the section out behind the fenders and moved it in front.
