Default Disappointed

I spent hours applying factory stickers for blocking and masking my new body off. I've sprayed the first two coats and just checked on it. The body came with pre cut stickers to mask off windows and when I checked on it, they are bubbled up and will allow the next color to get to the windows that I was trying to keep clear. WTH??? Why would the window stickers lift and what can I do? If I peel them off and try using the blue masking tape, will it lift the first two coats?

Before paint

After first 2 coats and the issue

I've never had them come off that much. Did you wash the body with warm water and soap? If not tape won't get a good bond.

Yeah but I prolly fingered them up is only idea i got.

What do you think if I mask off the windows with blue tape like bumpers. Do you think it'll lift off the purple paint?

You are more than likely spraying too heavy of a coat. RC paint requires really light ones...I've never seen window mask do that...

Ok, well don't think I can salvage window mask. Any one think I can use the blue tape without lifting the purple paint?

I agree with dude.

also temp changes can affect them.
ie like masking them and the body being nice warm inside temps. then going outside to spray where its cooler, and the paint has a massive cooling effect too when sprayed.

when you remove the masks take your time afterwords and scrape of the paint softly with a not too sharp exacto. you be surprised with some time and scraping the paint off how good it can look. especially from 3' away.

Yep.Too heavy of a coat will do that. For removing the paint that did seep under, you can also use a flattened toothpick.

You'd be surprised how many bodies I screwed up when I was first learning.

Most pearls (and fluorescents) don't have a lot of actual solid color in them and are meant to be a top coat effect that is backed with something else. They will look kind of watery by themselves unless you spray them stupid heavy or in a crazy amount of coats.

This is a solid purple color backed by backer white. Nothing fancy, just trying my hand at pointing. This was a expensive first try. Body was 28.00 and paint was 7.50 a can. But I can't complain to much for a first effort. It's all in learning. I think I went to heavy cause I shot purple in 2 shots. White was done in 1.

I guess I learned a few lessons with this first try.

Hey but so far it doesn't look half bad for a first timer... Posting a few more pics in a bit.

Decals will be later with lights and people

Guess disappointment is a thing of past as the kido loves the bus. Little more to do before maiden voyage.
