Default Rckcrwlr's "METHOD to his Madness" Beat Up Yota Build

Got my TF2 RTR a couple weeks ago and slapped my old Yota body on.

I felt it was time to do a Trail Beaten Rig. I will be going through all the METHODS of how I get to the final product.

Started with the Cab...

During a trail ride, a branch jumped out at me and caved in the passenger door...

There was also the normal rust and abuse on the bed. The flares were always known to rot out...and it's always good to have nature (a log or rock) raise your ground clearance for you. That one hurt.

We're going to start working on getting this body to where it needs to be. Check out the Jeep Hood that I got at Bantam Jeep Festival.

Steps to get to the look:

Used a heat gun on low to start softening the door.

Once I saw it soften, I used various tools to get the dent. It's important to hold the dent in place until the plastic starts cooling

The body is going to have some rust and scratches on it so it's important to show the layers of color to accentuate the damage. I will also be going with a weathered/faded final coat.

Started with silver metallic...then black primer

To get some various colors as it weathers...I added some grey primer to them mix.

How about some reddish brown?

Red was the color of choice but dropped a coat of Red Wine to help with the fading.

Then the final coat of race red...this was not laid on as a finish coat being that I was going to be weathering it...

It was time to get Buford involved...

Give him a scotchbrite and some brewski and he will go to down...

After about 5 hours...he decided that he was done...
