| Not meant for crawling
Anybody ever use a body not made for crawling? The reason I ask is because I just hacked up and going to paint a body that so isnt made for crawling.

are you asking in terms of durability or in terms of scale and looks?

Mainly durability...it doesnt look bad or as bad as some i've seen. I built my first crawler (ax10) and I chopped up a TLR 22T 2.0 body I had left over from my ST. How hard is crawling on bodies I guess is the proper question. I dont plan on bashing, just crawling. |

I don't use anything meant for crawling per say. Typically use monster truck bodies, the big ones. Crawling is a lot easier on bodies than monster trucks, typically only having to deal with roll over rather than the high speed crashes.

I did some mods to a Redcat Everest 10 and cut the heck out of that body to make it work for my crawling. It has side body posts. I put the holes higher up on the body so that it lowered the body closer to the chassis. It worked really well for crawling and actually made it much stronger.

I'm starting to see that there is a lot of "what ever works, works" in crawling. It seams to bring back some of the creativness to the hobby...I think it's great.

It really depends on the brand (from my research) - for example I looked at some of the bodies from Pandora & then discovered their bodies are very thin (which is how they get such great detail) so they are sure to crack up too soon, in my mind. Other bodies from say Parma may be much thicker (to my understanding) & could hold up much better.

the nice thing about the RC hobby is that you can modify things to fit your needs and your tastes. Do what you like and do it for yourself. If somebody else doesnt like it they can make their own. There is really no downside to using a "non crawler" body as long as you dont mind doing some extra cutting and gluing. |

i lie, there can be some downsides some bodies arent as durable or modeled as good as others. Bodies are a consumable for RC just as batteries or fuel. Eventually they get busted up one way or another and you can zip tie and glue them until you just want another one. |

I've used the lotus body before, it was really cool looking and required lots of hacking to get it to work. I would do it again for sure.
