Default Candy colors

Just wondering with candy paints do I need to back each color with my silver before going to the next one?

Thanks

In the past I backed each color before moving on to try and eliminate the colors bleeding together. The Candy paints seem to be thinner. I found soaking the cans in warm water before applying them tends to help with the light coats they take to look good. Hope that helps.

yes... silver or white depending on which tint you hope to net.
Silver will create a darker tint then will white.

this applies to all translucent/fluorescent colors

An air brush applies 1000X's better then a rattle can could.
As rattle cans generally emit an heavy, wet paint coat.
Whereas an airbrush can apply drier coatings requiring less dry time.
As well less chance of bleeding under the masking tape.

Each coat must be applied lightly and allowed to dry fully
before moving on to another spray coating.
A hurried application can net bad results.

When applying candy make sure you lay it down even, you can end up with some areas darker than others. My tf2 was really uneven on the ends of the body but after one day of crawling it didn't matter. I left the paint on the rocks lol

K/Candy paints hold a special place in my heart lol, made the mistake of painting one of my 1:1 builds in Kandy (HOK)

Can use silver or white, but also look into other colors..
ie
HOK Kandy Apple Red over Orion Silver gives a beautiful red color,
but over a gold base, you get a deep brandy wine/purple color.

Side note: might not matter much on the small stuff, but Candy paints do not like UV, tend to fade fast.

Airbrushing does not take any special skills over rattlecan.

I have 0 artistic abilities but still airbrush because of the much cheaper paints and easier to paint multiple colors/details. A $4 bottle of paint will do 3-4 bodies. A $9 can does 1, maybe 2 bodies.

This body was airbrushed...

very nice, ive been looking into airbrush.

Yeah just the airbrush itself thats spendy and even more if you have to have a special compressor to go with it, i do have a compressor but its a big one.

No need for a special compressor. Just a regulator that you can easily dial in/within reach. I use a genaric hobofreight one with the air/water separator built in. It was ~$15.

A good airbrush doesn't loose much/any value if you decide otherwise. IIRC you can get the iwata eclipse with hose/etc from hobby lobby for ~$100 after 40% off coupon.

I am a fan of the California Air compressors though
