Default Interior for Axial Cherokee Body

Did a search for this, didn't find what I was looking for...

I am putting an Axial Cherokee body on my TRX4, anyone know what interior works the best?

Thanks.

The Proline Lexan interior might work.

That’s just a knockoff proline PLC interior.

Yep. And good luck with plastics from China. They are usually something fragile instead of Lexan.

The proline PL-C fits quite well.

I used 1/4" foam tape on the sides to add width and made a tray extension (about 1 1/2") for the rear hatch area from some of the lexan that I trimmed off the mold.

I'm surprised to hear that. I've had "Lexan" bodies from China and they crack on the first impact.

I assume you meant you got the hard body Cherokee, correct? If so, did yours come in half? It looks like they changed the body at some point and now it might possibly come in less pieces. That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Well, you see, when you roll a Lexan body it compresses and, in turn, compresses things on the inside like the interior. Durability is always a plus.

It certainly does not need to be as thick or rigid as a lexan body, but it need to be able to take an impact and be able to flex with the main body.

I am thinking about trying the Proline interior, seeing if I can make that work.

Other than the steering wheel are which would be a beach to mold I would but them again and again if you can wait a few extra days for delivery.

Two makers of harbody XJs. The original is Team Raffee. Between the two this is the one I suggest to people who are detail oriented like me. Raffee has the details right compared to the other, Xtraspeed. Xtra has aftermarket front hood louvers, a JK esque Freedom Top for a roof, and on the short wheelbase 2 door (which means it is way out of scale proportion as the 1:1 wheelbase is consistent across all models from 1984 to 2001), they provide the notch for the rear passenger door handles, right over the rear axle. It's like they didn't even try.

Good to know. Thanks!

Yeah the door handle above the rear fender is ridiculous.

I just hate that the Team Raffee one comes in half, but I guess that's still less pieces than the "new" style from Xtra Speed.

OP, i would suggest depending how depending what kind of look and quality you're going for and what kind of room the TRX platform affords

Either the Proline pan, with the RC Nerds Shapeways XJ dash pieces replacing the molded dash. This dash is model year correct for the Axial model Cherokee.

Or

The RC Nerds dash with Ryan Luna's 3d printed interior. He might even do a dash delete on his kit if you ask nicely. It will require a lot of room to go this route. I'll be doing it on an SCX10ii chassis on a project soon.

Or

The Proline pan and just send it, cause it's easy, lol.
