Default 3M skins for panels

There was a discussion that led to using vinyl wrap skins on custom cut panels for the Axial Bomber - but I thought it might be of interest to anyone wanting a different look...

The company is https://dbrand.com and they make skins for nearly anything electronic - phones, gaming consoles, laptops, etc.

Their prices are fair, and the quality very high - I bought a Pixel XL skin in a concrete finish and it looks just like real concrete - even has a porous-looking matte texture - and made by 3M.

Someone could buy a large piece meant to cover the top or bottom of a laptop or gaming console and have enough material to do several body panels, or buy smaller pieces and cut it into shapes or racing stripes...

Here are the various finishes they offer:

I bought a roll of carbon fiber vinyl wrap on eBay. I only wanted a piece for the hood of my Sakura XI Sport. It was cheap and the quality is good. It's automotive grade.

Y U NO BUY 1:10 SCALE CF PATTERN?!

for 1/10 RC Body #VGP-606, ,(VGP-606) by Pandora RC 3D Carbon Style Decal Black

but yeah the idea of vinyl wrapping 1:1 cars is very common, and would likely translate well to RC if you want to change colors on a body relatively easy.
obviously the more detailed a body, the more difficult to wrap.
jerps could be pretty simple.
hilux and stuff might get pretty complex.

but yeah, buy rolls on amazon for teh cheap!

*frekEskinz even does pre-cut and printed stuff like weathered trucks for RC. pretty popular stuff and ImThatGuy has a vid of his proline SR5 with a custom Toyota themed wrap from frekEskinz.

ITG's wrapped Toyota vid... yes i assure you that's a WRAP!

Doing panels was the main focus of my post, and trying out something different than the norm...

The weathered and/or rusted wraps are very cool, but then you end up with a body that is not that unique after all - anyone could get the same wrap and match the look.

Personally, I like having a one-of-a-kind body...

Contacting a wrap vendor and having a custom design made is obviously a great idea, but likely not that cheap.

Anything custom is not going to be cheap. Here is my bomber when it had my custom Freqi skins body on it. I still have it too. Rest assured, nobody else has this skin but me. lol.

A woodgrained body might be a sharp look on a body , definitely would stand out in a crowd of scalers as long as no one else had the same idea

When I was originally ordering the skin for my phone, I couldn't decide between bamboo or concrete - went with concrete because I finally saw someone at work had a wood one...

Both looked amazingly real!

A Cherokee or older Ford/Chevy truck with wood grain sides would be sweet.

And 1:1 Jeeps have used topo maps on some of their option packages before, that's a nice idea as well...

I just saw a 1:1 1980 blazer in my neighborhood a couple days ago with woodgrain like an old woody. Wish I snapped a pic it was awesome!
Nice lift with period correct wheels... Just... Awesome.
