I backed with white. All of the Pearl and fluorescent colors work best with white.

It depends on how you want it to look. Your base color will affect the overall outcome, so experimentation is always a good thing. I'll try and find some images once I get home but I usually back my Pearl Lime Green with gold or yellow. I like the warmer look. You can of course use black or white too for a different look, even green itself.

I was thinking a yellow or orange, but was worried might change the tint too much. Looking for a bright, in your face green. Trimmed with Black fenders and running board.

I believe this was Pearl lime green using a base of yellow or gold.

Very nice, yes that is what I'm looking for. Thanks for the photo. Do you go over the 'yellow or gold' with a final backer, or leave as is?

I would definitely experiment. Get a piece of 8x10 plexi from Lowes (it's like $2). Spray your pearl and let it dry. Then tape it off and try different "base" layers. I do this all the time because for the graphics and stuff (like the unicorn) it's a totally different beast doing it in reverse. You can't just go back and add highlights when painting backwards. With the solid colors too the "base layer" (or final layer as it would be on an RC car) does affect the overall Hue and Value of the inner most color (that shows).

Anyway, I honestly don't recall what I used. I shoot with Createx so I probably used a base of Autobourne sealer. Most likely yellow, but maybe white. I'm sure I did the test panel like I mentioned above before I did the final panel but I probably tossed it some time ago. As a general rule for whatever reason my very last and final coat is always black. I just think the shell looks nicer and more "clean" with a final layer of black. By the time I spray that though I already have enough opaque payers that the hue and value of all the subsequent layers has been decided.

Thanks for your advice. I am new to this, so I don't have many colors to experiment with yet, now I have a starting point.
You do beautiful work. I noticed your unicorn has a nice set of antlers, Nevada license plate?

I think that’s the same color here, for some reason I thought it was something that sounded like a Mountain Dew flavor like Lime Ice, but I digress…. just backed with silver here

LOL, actually that one was a moose skull. The plate is from Alaska. I had another thread about this one I just did and was referencing this one .

Here was a straight up panel I did. The base was the pearl lime and then I did the art with emerald green candies and a touch of black. it may just be me, or the white balance, or the cameras, but I think my two images the green is a tad warmer and more shifted to the yellow side than the two tone truck.

Topher- I do like that color a lot, now I have more choices, Think I'm gonna have to pick up some silver too.
IPT, You definitely do beautiful work, been looking at airbrush rigs. Gonna be my next investment after finishing this build.
Thanks all for the advice. Now to experiment with the silver and the yellow see which I like best.

Love that! Looks very similar to one I painted with Parma Key Lime a few moons ago.

Topher, I absolutely love that truck body. Knocked it outta the part there.! I have also had the best results backing in silver. White ruined a read paint job and gloss black darkens too much for my taste.
