Default 12" hardbody

Looking for a LIGHT WEIGHT 12" wheelbase hardbody. I am wanting the weigh to sit low so not really an SUV. Jeep Wrangler or Pick up or other ideas. C1 legal.

Right now I have an RC4wd Toyota extra cab. It is heavy and the Toyota are just too common.

Toyota bodies "too common"? From what I've seen, Jeeps seem to outnumber Toyotas something like 10-to-1.

I cant think of any lightweight hardbodies that fit that bill, thats kind of a catch 22.

Only thing I've seen come in lighter than a lexan body is the Tamiya Beetle body which is pretty thin (not sure if its too thin to be comp legal though). I did a build with it and stretched it to 10 1/4" but 12" probably wouldn't fly and the width is super narrow (6 1/2" up front 7 1/2" in the back).

If you make your own lightweight styrene interior you may be able to knock some weight off, interiors often add a ton of weight for a hardbody.

Look online. A simple search will show you LOTS...mostly Wrangler, but I've also seen a few others (including a Comanche...tho, I can't remember where I saw it).

I found many but they were longer than 12". My wheelbase is actually 11 and 3/4 so even 12 is pushing it on a hard body when you're really not supposed to trim much. It is for a class one build.

Looks good but might be to narrow. I think I am around 9" wide. I will have to check when I get home.

Thing is, you're probably going to be hard-pressed in actually finding a hardbody to fit your short/non-standard wheelbase & width (essentially, you're trying to create a vehicle with 1/10 scale width, but 1/12 scale wheelbase). And, even if you do find bodies, the selection will be incredibly minimal.

I haven't checked, myself, but you might consider checking RC4WD & Killerbody. Not saying they'll have anything...but, I do know they produce short-wheelbase vehicles/bodies. The 'standard' TF2 chassis has an 11.3" wheelbase, so bodies designed for that chassis could fit. Plus, of you just slightly shorten your front and/or rear links, then you could definitely get your wheelbase down to 11.3". The point is, instead of trying to find a body to for your "oddball" wheelbase, you're better off adjusting your wheelbase to fit the selection of available bodies.

Whatever you decide to do, I wish ya they best of luck.

I have the RC4WD extended cab Toyota. I Did have to cut the front of the bed (also bobbed the rear to get it to fit. It looks great but too heavy. Right now I have a lexan body for winter comps, they don't count scale points. My C1 is so much more capable with a lighter lexan body than the heavier hard body. I'm just hoping I can find a lighter hard body with wheelbase close enough and then go from there.

I probably had that much into my other hard body we include the working on the bed. The only issue is that one's about 2 in too long and it would be probably pretty hard to Bob a body like that, that might be a disqualifier for C1.
