| Local eats?
Anybody have some good suggestions on food down there? I am looking for "the experience" so no applebees or chain food. If anybody has suggestions for Birmingham too I would appreciate it as I might be spending Sunday night there. |

Whats the word on food at the event? Someone there with some? Bring your own? Something close enough to run and grab something?

There was a food vendor that showed up at ECC. Matt pretty much had the food covered so the guy left. If Matt is not coming maybe Fish or someone local can find the guy and see if he will come up. He had a roving burger/hotdog/snack/drink outfit. Gonna be some long days and ANY food would be good |

In town where mostly everyone is staying.. The Gridiron seems to be the best that you can get. There is a Mexican restaurant further down the road but the food is just ok. I haven't found much other than those two places and fast food. I usually go to The Wal-Mart and buy my food there.

Fish and I were checking out this place: Mountain Parkway Grill It's at the bottom of the mountain before you head down 68 into town. It was packed when we went by on a Sat. evening and seems to have good reviews. |

I am reading that the local thing is something called "White BBQ Sauce", and it appears that it is used for many items such as a sauce over food, or a dipping condiment. It is supposedly unique to northern Alabama. The ingredients are simple: Mayo Vineager Lemon Juice Salt Pepper Sugar If we are looking to get a taste of the local culinary treats, this should be high on the list. Mayo is not my thing, but I will give it a try if presented the opportunity. Grits though are something that I have tried in the past, and will skip in the future. They are just not my thing. | |
