| My rally cars
Hi guys, I thought i would share my small collection of rally cars with you. So without further ado, let's begin This is my vintage Yokomo mr4 tc. I put some longer shocks on to increase ground clerance. There's a dedicated rally version of it, but that is as rare as hen's teeth. My rally version of Tamiya's Ta05 It's running a humble silver can, so it's not exactly fast. but it handles well. With the inner body and diff covers hardly any dirt gets in. My Tamiya xv-01.. This one, I felt that the ground clearance and the droop were not quite sufficient.. Wile the rear was easy, just add some longer rod ends, the front took some effort.. But the results were worth it..at least in my opinion Fully raised, I have around 28-29mm, so with a more normal ride height of 18-20mm, I have a fair amount of droop. My Lancia 037 body..as you can see not quite finished painting yet. I had installed a 8.5 brushless system, but I needed it for another project, so for the moment it's more of a static model Thanks to Turtle, I spent money that I didn't really had to get my latest addition to my fleet....the Kyosho Drx I got the Mitsubishi Lancer evo7 nitro version though it has been converted into an electric. Unfortunately, the motor mount and battery holder are on back order,so I have time to contemplate what motor and esc I should get... To protect my chassis, I bought a sheet of 0.2mm self adhesive plastic at the local 100yen store. It's really for protecting your windows against people with a hammer, so I figured it would do just nicely. So, that is my small collection, if you have any comments or questions, fire away |

Nice collection so far. I had a TA-05 last year. It was a great driving car. I tried it as a rally car and I just couldn't keep dirt and rocks out of the drivetrain. Wish I could have though, because at the time it was a fantastic driving vehicle. Cool on the Yokohama BTW, I looked for one a while ago after I noticed a lot of the European rally guys use them, but I couldn't find one for a decent price. Looking forward to seeing more progress. |

It did take some effort to keep out the dirt, but with some styrene sheets, I did manage to build some efficient covers for the diffs. Here's a close up of said cover... Took some tries to get it right, but in the end I got it. As i said, together with the inner body, despite running it in some pretty dusty conditions, it stays very clean |

Nice looking rally cars. I like the first one you posted. Something cool about those old nostalgic bodies. |

Very nice collection you have! Wish a rally class would take off over here. I've had 2 DF-03Ra's...1 was built and has never even seen a minute of driving time lol.

I finally finished the Lancia 037 body. Looks quite good, if I have to say so |

That looks really good, do you have a bashing body to run on it. It would be a shame to damage this one or the Quattro. I have a thing for TB01's, I've got five with various bodies and in various states of tune, LA arm kits, all have alloy steering and motor mounts, and I have an Evo VII and a Peugeot 306 WRC as my bash shells so I don't damage my Colin McRae shells. Loving the covers on the TA05, I made a cover set for a TA03F that worked really well, it was just the lower arm design that held it back. I also have a couple of Kyosho Pureten EP's (one rear mounted and the other mud mounted motor) that I bash with my kids and a HPI RS4 Rally EP that is my hard core car running a 9t brushless set up (50+ mph). Looking at an XV01 once I've finished my Exo Terra project. I love the way a TA03F handles so I imagine thus will feel similar due to the front motor lay out. Tony |
