Re: Rally Tracks!

Hey Joe it is looking good. "thumbsup"

Can I suggest starting a separate thread? That way this thread can have completed tracks with links back to build threads so this one doesn't get to cluttered.

spent an hour or two today making this little winter track. This is on the shady side on the house, and it's getting colder, so maybe this'll last all winter? we'll see.

looks like a fun back yard!

cullen colapietro 01-17-2014 09:52 PM

It's Been the most fun I've ever had with an rc car! The xv01 drives just the way I'd hoped.

Plus I cash drive from inside my home.

Here's another video from tonight - too much snow to drive in the offroad section and too cold to take advantage of the straightaway. Still a ton of fun!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCP60XiwdoM

The jump that I added - which differs from previous photos - is a section of "horse mat" (tractor supply company) and is really heavy treaded rubber. I draped it over a cinder block.

Anyone else have issues running in show where left steering gets build up after a while and steering is reduced to about 30%? - Feel free to answer in PM as I don't want to clog up this track thread.

New layout and more snow.

So what works you keep, I understand that. However what where did you find the tracks to inspire you to make yours? I am thinking of making a track in my yard, so that is why I am asking.

Personally I watch a lot of rally races. I learned what types of corners they use and made them in scale my basic principle is there should be a fast sweeper, checane, switch back, and some type of elevation change. After that I fill in the blanks and start driving. With the CRC series we try to keep the speeds down and the driving technical. We also build the tracks 24 to 36 inches wide.

Re: Rally Tracks!

A quick and easy "rally" track/stage for me is going to the local park and walking the nature trails, did I say walking I mean running

Do a lot of you "Rally" guys drive on a track vs a none trak area Like Tontos mentioned?

If I may jump in one more time, from what I see and this is just from clicking through vids, stage rally is more euro an over seas, as for rally in the us I see more tracks being used I would say more of a "rally cross" feel, also track racing openes the rally world to everyone(people having a hard time running or keeping up with the car may have problems) soo its all about if you need some exercise or want to trade paint with the boys

Re: Rally Tracks!

hey tonto (you know what language and what it means, right ?)
where you at in mich, I used to be from flint.

I am fortunate enough to live in arizona on an acre with a ravine (arroyo) on it that I made a track on for my axial wraith. it only has a few rock sections that I had to import, so after seeing this thread, mine is more rally cross that rock racer. it rips though. "thumbsup" I'd post pics but haven't been able to.

I also use dry creek/river beds, but I guess ya'll wouldn't know about that. :lmao:

do ya'll do time trial, match race or multiple car starts ?

does anybody know of anyone doing this sort of r/c in Arizona ?
I might have to get one....."thumbsup"

advise.......db
