Default --Another RC4WD Bully Build--

Here is the start of my first ever build! I was lucky enough to be chosen to be a tester for RC4WD's upcoming bully competition axles. I have been testing for RC4Wd for a while now, mostly in the baja area...I am expecting the axles to be here monday or tuesday, as they were sent to Etype-R in a mistake...Here it goes...

Parts List…

Radio--Spektrum DX3R
Steering--Jr DS8711
Chassis---Blackjack
Speed Control--Mamba Max
Motors—2x Integy 45t
Wheels--Vanquish DH Pro Comp Revolvers
Tires--Losi Claws, or Carvers
Body--Grappler
Dig--Switches with mini servo
Shocks--3.5'' Big bores
Axles-- RC4WD BULLY!!!!

Received these badass wheels about 2 weeks ago, by far the easiest wheels ever to mount tires too, and the weight is perfect, adjustable, and LOW!!…

Upon opening the Vanquish Products Revolver Pro-Comp DH’s, I was immediately stunned on the packaging, and finish of these wheels, makes you hate to gouge them on the rocks…oh well!!…

I am going to be running Team LOSI Claws, as they seem to do best with our comps around here, we have a lot of courses that are off camber, and the losi’s seem to shine, I will be mounting a set of the new CARVERS once they are available…

Here is the mounted tires…

Notice the perfection, and the weights are adjustable without taking the wheel off the truck!!…

Here is the front setup on the scale, right at 16 oz.!! I may or may not remove weight upon testing the truck…

Here is the rear setup ate 12oz, again, may need to tune…

On to the pictures of the chassis…it is a blackjack chassis with the braces cut out, and a custom skid made by my brother and I… I wanted a skid that was similar to my GC1, but no aluminum showing on the bottom, and smooth edges… I will eventually be having my brother router a “rail/groove” into the chassis to keep the truck sliding straight forward on the rocks…

I will hopefully have an update either tomorrow, or Tuesday once the axles show up…I will be custom fabbing a servo mount, upper link mounts, and lower link mounts…Stay tuned!!!…

Sweet rig man, those are by far the sexiest revolver rims I've seen to date. You should annodize the chassis to match

Well, things took another route this evening…Received the Bully axles in the mail today, and I must say the finish is outstanding, and everything rolls smooth like butter!!…

Upon messing with them, I decided to go another way with the chassis, and wanted to try the stick design that is ever so popular in the super world…I figured the clod type axle is so popular, and works so well with the stick in supers, these are just scaled down clod axles, so why not scale down the stick?…

I Built some custom mounts out of delrin for my RC4WD Baja ballends, to mount the main stick to…And removed the RC4WD upper link mount, and used the holes as a template for the delrin piece…I may need to eventually lower the mounts using some aluminum angle instead of the delrin… as they seem a little high…I will also be cleaning up the look of the delrin/aluminum piece once I decide the height I want …

I then cut a piece of 3/8” aluminum rod to the length of 11.5”, and drilled and tapped the ends for 5mm bolts to mount the “backbone” of the chassis…

Right now, It sits at just under 5” of ground clearance (which will probably be adjusted down)…

Then threw on the fresh body, just to see what it’d look like…

I will be making lower links, and shock mounts hopefully tomorrow night, and Wednesday night I will be messing with OTA steering…

Still need to figure out where I am going to mount all of the electronics, It may be tight…

What do you plan on using to dampen the stick? I'm saving up for these axles and plan on doing a pimpcane build for them, it's gonna be tight

I think with the backbone that high you will have alot of axle swing. I would peronally try and lower the tube some to keep the swing to a minimum.

Looks good though.

4.25 to the bottom of the tube seems like a good # to me.

How are you planning to connect the shocks to the axles... the rear doesnt seem to be a problem but on the front I am thinking the steering is going to get in the way.

this is also an issue I have been looking at, also need the shocks to clear the cases, I may have to build more than 1 mount for the shocks to get them where I want them out of harms way...

I think I will go for 4.25, my dad brought me his super clod stick for measurements so I can get a little more of an idea of what I want....

thanks guys!!

More updates this evening whenever I get some stuff done

its rough but, here is what I was thinking... would allow for the min amount of axle space and the suspension should still function

I am going to build a shock mount like the original stick, then if that doesn't work, I will try your design, I think the original might gov me enough clearance...
